Shoji Lanterns
Various Hardwoods
Inspired by a trip to Japan and the discovery of traditional Japanese joinery, these Shoji Lamps are a celebration of the centuries old techniques used to create Kumiko patternwork and the Shoji screens that separate the rooms of a traditional Japanese home.
The most notable feature of these lamps are their patterned panels backed with artisanal paper which when illuminated bathe the room in a warm, relaxing glow. Each panel is made by hand, taking thin strips of Lime wood that are handplaned to uniformed size and thickness and then meticulously assembled using precisely placed half-lap joints to form an intricately patterned and attractive shoji screen.
